This Encore is designed to reconnect Leadership MetroWest Alumni through shared learning, cohort-style conversation, and meaningful exposure to the organizations shaping MetroWest—an “Academy Lite” experience that blends insight, inspiration, and community.
Join us for a behind-the-scenes look at Better Day’s Adult Social Day Program, an innovative, converted residential-home based day program for adults living with early- to mid-stage dementia. Together we’ll see how staff work to create a structured yet free-flowing mix of exercise, music, art, gardening, baking, walks, and brain-healthy meals in a warm, comfortable, and secure atmosphere designed to put guests at ease, and give much-needed daytime respite to family care partners.
During our visit, participants will:
* Tour Better Day’s beautiful residential home and garden.
* Explore its innovative approach to nonmedical experiential social engagement and cognitive stimulation, and learn how how it’s bridging the service gap between basic senior centers and full residential memory care facilities
* Experience how meaningful peer engagement and structured social activity reduces loneliness and depression for attendees.
* Learn about the operational considerations of nonprofits offering full- and part-time care and providing community-supported financial assistance to reduce economic barriers for families who cannot easily afford private-pay day programs.
* Our program will conclude by meeting for lunch at a nearby restaurant (the Main Street Cafe, 182 Main St, Marlborough, MA 01752) offering time for reflection, conversation, and connection with fellow alumni. Lunch is not included in your registration
