Leadership for those with PTO (In Person) - 19 Feb 2026 10am-1pm

Please ensure that your Basic Awareness and Foundation training have been completed before booking on to this course. Both can be accessed online via the Church of England's Safeguarding Portal.

This is a bespoke course for Clergy and Readers who hold PTO and who have only occasional ministry in church. Please note that with the pre-course work that must be completed prior to attendance and a post-course reflective exercise 4 weeks afterwards, this course takes about 5 weeks to complete.

To gain the most from there day please download and read the workbook. There are some pre-course tasks to complete, however you will not be required to submit any written work prior to attendance.

Learning outcomes:

• Analyse what healthy Christian communities look like, how healthy communities keep people safe, and their role in shaping Christian communities that are healthy and safe.
• Connect the Church’s mission and theological foundations with what behaviours in public ministry look like in a safeguarding context.
• Explore how your own faith, beliefs, and values link with those underpinning good safeguarding behaviours.
• Evaluate aspects of your own practice and identify changes required which you then take forward with confidence.
