About this Event

This workshop is part of our on-going effort to expand and develop our offerings to serve clients in the field of leadership development.

This is experiential learning. You will engage in activities and reflect in discussion on what you learned and how to apply it in real life. Activities will involve simple movement in groups of varying sizes.

Learning objectives will include practical techniques and steps to:

  • Improve listening skills
  • Increase your ability to be present in the given moment
  • Gain a deeper understanding of how you approach conflict and collaboration

You should come dressed in comfortable clothing and shoes, prepared to move lightly.


PAUL BLACK

For the last 15 years, Paul has advised investors, boards, senior leaders and teams on the topic of organizational effectiveness, team effectiveness, leadership assessment and executive coaching from a diverse range of industries and geographies including financial services, pharmaceuticals, consumer healthcare, insurance and consumer packaged goods. Client companies range from multi-national corporations to start-ups to private investment firms.

Prior to founding Magnify Talent, Paul was a Principal at Heidrick & Struggles, a global consultancy with a division focused on organizational effectiveness where he conducted talent assessment, executive coaching, and leadership and team development. Before that he headed the team effectiveness practice at Philosophy IB, a boutique consultancy specializing in strategy implementation. In the area of organizational effectiveness Paul led teams that redefined core processes, such as new product development, for Fortune 100 companies. He also coached teams to breakthrough performance across multiple industries and worked with CXO officers on individual coaching needs.

Paul worked as a production engineer in the downstream UK oil industry in lubricant manufacturing and marketing. He subsequently spent several years with Bain & Company as a management consultant. Paul also spent some time as a professional actor working on stage and screen in New York City and internationally. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering from Nottingham University and a Masters of Fine Arts from Yale School of Drama and is a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers in the UK.


ANDREW ASNES began his career as a dancer with The Paul Taylor Dance Company where he performed in over 40 countries and 300 cities over 11 years. While in the company he taught dance classes in every major city in the world and was on faculty at The Paul Taylor School. He has since taught master classes and workshops at Universities and schools throughout the US.

After The PTDC, he danced for Twyla Tharp Dance and then in several Broadway shows and tours including DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS, CONTACT and JUMPERS. He has produced a number of Broadway and Off-Broadway plays and Musicals including THE COLOR PURPLE MUSICAL, LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL, ALL MY SONS starring John Lithgow and Diane Wiest and 50 SHADES! THE MUSICAL PARODY.

Andrew holds a Bachelors degree from Dartmouth College and received an MBA (Dean's Honors) from Columbia University. He and his wife, actress Anastasia Barzee, reside in Los Angeles, CA with their two sons.


Safety and COVID-19

Ripley-Grier Studios requires all people entering their building and studio floors to wear a mask at all times within the common areas. They sanitize common areas on a regular basis. The studio space we have rented has an air handling system that recirculates the air through hepa filters every 15 minutes, has an air conditioning unit and windows that open.

We are requiring that all participants be fully vaccinated prior to attending the workshop. Paul Black and Andrew Asnes, your instructors, are fully vaccinated.

In addition to the policies and practices by Ripley-Grier, all staff, instructors and participants of the Magnify Talent workshop will be required to wear a mask while in the studio space. We will have hand sanitizer available and will maintain social distancing throughout the workshop.

By attending this workshop, I agree to the following:

I acknowledge the contagious nature of the Coronavirus/COVID-19 and that the CDC and many other public health authorities still recommend practicing social distancing.

I further acknowledge that Magnify Talent (“MT”) and Ripley-Grier Flexible Spaces and its parent New York Spaces Inc. ("RG") has put in place preventative measures to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus/COVID-19.

I further acknowledge that MT and RG can not guarantee that I will not become infected with the Coronavirus/Covid-19. I understand that the risk of becoming exposed to and/or infected by the Coronavirus/COVID-19 may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of myself and others, including, but not limited to, studio staff, and other studio clients and their families.

I voluntarily seek services provided by MT and RG and acknowledge that I am increasing my risk to exposure to the Coronavirus/COVID-19. I acknowledge that I must comply with all set procedures to reduce the spread while using MT and RG's facilities.

I attest that:

* I am not experiencing any symptoms of illness such as cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or new loss of taste or smell.

* I do not believe I have been exposed to someone with a suspected and/or confirmed case of the Coronavirus/COVID-19.

* I have not been diagnosed with Coronavirus/Covid-19 and not yet cleared as non contagious by state or local public health authorities.

* I am following all CDC recommended guidelines as much as possible and limiting my exposure to the Coronavirus/COVID-19.

I hereby release and agree to hold MT and RG harmless from, and waive on behalf of myself, my heirs, and any personal representatives any and all causes of action, claims, demands, damages, costs, expenses and compensation for damage or loss to myself and/or property that may be caused by any act, or failure to act of MT and RG or its staff, or that may otherwise arise in any way in connection with any services received from MT and RG. I understand that this release discharges MT and RG from any liability or claim that I, my heirs, or any personal representatives may have against the salon with respect to any bodily injury, illness, death, medical treatment, or property damage that may arise from, or in connection to, any services received from MT and RG. This liability waiver and release extends to the all owners, partners, and employees of MT and RG
