Leadership & Democracy in a Changing World: A Conversation w/ Sen. Andy Kim
About this Event
At a moment of profound change in the international system, democratic leaders face growing challenges to public trust, political institutions, and the rules that have shaped global affairs for decades. Rising geopolitical competition, technological change, political polarization, and declining confidence in institutions are forcing democratic governments to reconsider how they lead both at home and abroad. Senator Andy Kim, in conversation with 6abc’s Nydia Han, will examine the responsibilities and challenges of democratic leadership in this changing environment, drawing on his experience in public service, diplomacy, and foreign policy. The discussion will explore how elected leaders can strengthen democratic institutions and build consensus around difficult policy choices. It will also consider how the United States can lead effectively in an increasingly contested world while remaining responsive to the needs and concerns of its citizens. More broadly, the conversation will ask what effective democratic leadership looks like in an era of uncertainty and rapid change.
