About this Event

This empowering community event is designed for students, youth and young adults with disabilities, parents, caregivers, educators, professionals, nonprofit organizations, and community members. The summit will focus on resilience, mental health, leadership, self-advocacy, education, independence, career readiness, and overcoming barriers.

Attendees can expect an inspiring panel discussion featuring ADHD coach and author Sam Led, inspirational speaker and consciousness coach Felton K. Brown, and author, business owner, and disability advocate Thomas Moon.

Guests will also choose from three breakout sessions while enjoying lunch.

The summit will conclude with a vendor and community resource fair featuring nonprofit organizations, disability service providers, educational programs, employment resources, family support services, and community partners. Registered attendees may also participate in the backpack giveaway while supplies last.

Registration and Coffee

Info: Guests are invited to arrive early for registration, coffee, and community connection before the program begins. Attendees will check in, receive event materials, learn where each breakout room is located, and have an opportunity to meet members of the ACES team, presenters, community partners, and fellow families.

The Leaders with a Destiny Summit welcomes students, youth and young adults with disabilities, parents, caregivers, educators, professionals, and community members for a day of inspiration, education, advocacy, and connection.

Speaking Panel

Info: The summit will begin with an empowering panel discussion featuring speakers who will share their personal and professional experiences related to resilience, mental health, disability advocacy, self-advocacy, leadership, and overcoming barriers.

Panelists will encourage students, families, educators, and community members to recognize their strengths, challenge limiting beliefs, and continue moving toward their personal, educational, and professional goals.

Breakout Rooms/ Lunch

Info: Guests will choose from three interactive breakout rooms while enjoying lunch. The Parent and Caregiver Room will feature Nancy Torres Burling, Program Co-Director of the Parent Education Network, and Elsie Garcia-Urbay, Founder of Rise & Shine Life Coaching and Dragonfly Fit and Fun Social Club. Their session will focus on communication, self-advocacy, family support, confidence, and independence.

The Educator and Professional Room will feature Carlton Daley, Director of TRIO Student Support Services at Miami Dade College, North Campus, and Dr. Jean Blosser, speech-language pathologist, author, consultant, and special education leader. They will discuss collaboration, mentorship, inclusive practices, and student success.

The Resilience, Leadership, and Self-Advocacy Room will feature Thomas Moon and Felton K. Brown, who will share strategies for overcoming barriers, building confidence, resilience, and pursuing meaningful goals.

Vendor Tables, Community Resources, and Backpack Giveaway

Info: The summit will conclude with a community vendor and resource fair designed to connect families, students, educators, caregivers, and community members with helpful programs and services. Guests can meet representatives from nonprofit organizations, disability service providers, educational programs, employment resources, family support organizations, and other community partners.

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions, collect information, learn about available services, and build connections with organizations that support youth, young adults, individuals with disabilities, and underserved families.

A backpack giveaway will also take place during this portion of the event for registered attendees while supplies last. Guests are encouraged to visit the vendor tables, connect with presenters and partners, and leave with resources that can support their next steps.
