About this Event
Leadenhall Market: burials, bombs and fantastic beasts
Leadenhall goes back nearly 2000 years. It was built on the site of the Roman Basilica and Forum, and during the medieval period was a market selling meat, fish and herbs, continuing well into the 17th century, as a place where wool merchants baled and weighed wool - the source of the City of London's wealth.
There have been people living and working in this area since Roman times and a huge amount has happened to them! As the days draw in, take a walk on the dark side of Leadenhall with us this October to explore some of their sinister history - with witchcraft, M**der and death at almost every turn.
This is a limited edition tour with only 4 dates and limited tickets . Thanks to financial support from Leadenhall Market, tickets are heavily subsidised.
We try to make our walks as inclusive and accessible as possible but please note there are cobbles and a few kerbs.
Safety:
The safety of our group members and Guides is paramount. We have small group numbers to help manage this and places MUST be booked in advance. We are unable to accept onto our tours anyone who has not booked a ticket.
City of London Guides are the official guides to the City and follow the Institute of Tourist Guiding (ITG) Covid19 Guidance for Tour Guiding.
If, on the day, you feel at all unwell please cancel your place.
