Leach Sessions: An Evening Talk With Rosanna Martin

The Leach Sessions invite makers to share their approach with the wider Leach Pottery community. Each session offers a chance to learn directly from makers with a strong connection to material, process and tradition, while engaging with contemporary ways of making.
Rosanna Martin is a Cornwall-based artist whose work explores the connections between landscape, people and materials through sculpture, participatory projects and events.
Inspired by the traces people leave on the land and the changing Cornish landscape, Rosanna creates work using clay and other natural materials to tell stories of place, industry and memory. Having worked with clay for over 20 years, Rosanna's connection to Cornwall began in childhood, spending time on the River Fal where her grandparents lived, surrounded by the waste clay landscapes that continue to inspire her practice today.
Alongside her PhD at Falmouth University, Rosanna is the Creative Director of Brickfield – a collaborative research project where participants use waste china clay, quartz and mica to hand-make bricks, transforming industrial by-products into objects of creativity and connection.
