Portrait artist Lea Desandre pays tribute to Julie Andrews and the golden age of musicals with some of the most memorable tunes from The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, West Side Story and more. It was thanks to performers like Andrews that musicals enjoyed their heyday on Broadway. Today, the singer remains a role model and source of inspiration around the world. Generations of children have been captivated by the sound of her crystal-clear voice. The fascination Andrews has exerted across generations fuelled the imagination of mezzo-soprano Lea Desandre, Ensemble Jupiter and conductor Thomas Dunford. In Chasing Rainbows, they will perform the most memorable songs by Leonard Bernstein, Robert & Richard Sherman, Henry Mancini, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Noël Coward and others. A spoonful of tenderness, poetry and nostalgia that will undoubtedly ‘help the medicine go down’.
