About this Event
Not only considered an incomparable francophone ambassador, Le Vent du Nord is a driving force of the Quebec progressive folk movement, as well as a leading group in the revival of traditional music in Quebec. Since its founding in 2002, it has experienced a meteoric rise that never ceases to amaze! It has performed over 2,200 concerts on 4 continents, released 12 albums and received numerous prestigious awards including a GRAND PRIX DU DISQUE CHARLES CROS (France), two JUNO AWARDS (Canada), at the Canadian Folk Music Awards and won three FÉLIX awards at ADISQ (Quebec). In recognition of its international outreach work, the band was awarded ARTIST OF THE YEAR at the International Folk Alliance Conference (2004), it received the TRANSATLANTIC BRIDGE Award jointly presented by BABELMED/Mundial Montréal in France (2015), and was honored to receive the Édith Butler/Bell Media Award (2019) awarded by the Société des professionnels auteurs-compositeurs du Québec (SPACQ) as well as the SONGLINES MUSIC AWARDS 2023 in the Americas category. Their qualities as performers, arrangers and composers as well as their very strong stage presence marked by a profound generosity are now recognized worldwide. Today formed by singers and multi-instrumentalists Nicolas Boulerice, André Brunet (since 2017), Réjean Brunet (since 2007), Olivier Demers and André Gagné (from March 2024 replacing Simon Beaudry) the group performs works from the traditional repertoire as well as original compositions. A music that, without a doubt, is very much of its time.
