LDC Evolution: Insights from Grid Innovation Pilots in Ontario

Through the Grid Innovation Fund and Sandbox Challenge, the Ontario Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) and Ontario Energy Board (OEB) have invested over $14 million in four LDC-led projects. These exciting projects have allowed participants to evaluate the potential of different system and market coordination models to better optimize distributed energy resource (DER) integration through enhanced flexibility. This panel of executive grid innovation experts will discuss each of their pilots - the lessons learned, the value demonstrated, and the need to further pursue enhanced flexibility capabilities and/or markets for the province to fully leverage the potential benefits of DERs province wide.
