LCR Health Innovation Challenge Day
About this Event
Join us for a full day dedicated to accelerating health innovation across the Liverpool City Region. Whether you’re an SME developing new digital health solutions, an academic exploring novel research, a clinician or commissioner tackling system challenges, or a problem owner with lived experience of unmet need - this event is designed for you.
The LCR Health Innovation Challenge Day will introduce the region’s new HealthTech Design Studio (HTDS) and showcase how its approach can support innovators to develop impactful, inclusive, and regulation‑ready health technologies. The morning will feature talks from regional leaders, clinicians, and innovators, followed by a pitch session for those wishing to share early‑stage ideas.
In the afternoon, participants will join themed breakout groups - Women’s Health, Cardiovascular Health, Multimorbidity, and Public Health—to explore challenges, opportunities, and potential innovation pathways in each area. This is a chance to connect with peers, shape future collaborations, and contribute to the region’s growing healthtech ecosystem.
About the HealthTech Design Studio
The HealthTech Design Studio (HTDS) is a regional programme based at the Civic Health Innovation Labs (CHIL) at the University of Liverpool, dedicated to shaping inclusive, participatory, and compliance aware health innovation across Liverpool City Region. Bringing together residents, clinicians, academics, SMEs, and commercial partners, HTDS uses its Designing for Health methodology to develop technologies grounded in lived experience, ethical practice, and real system need. As part of the Civic HealthTech Innovation Zone (CHI-Zone), funded through the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority Life Sciences Innovation Zone fund, HTDS strengthens the region’s innovation pipeline, builds community capability and trust, and prioritises reducing health inequalities by supporting innovators from early discovery through to prototype development and regulatory readiness.
