Please join us for opening celebrations on Friday 29th August from 4pm as our current staff take over the campus gallery to show off what they do best.

In 1995, Bion Balding opened LaTrobe Street Gallery and LaTrobe Street School of Art & Design, at 301-303 LaTrobe Street in the Melbourne CBD. The college started out teaching short courses in drawing, painting, art theory and advanced studio practice as well as providing mentoring. Over time this expanded to become nationally recognised diploma programs. LCAD boasts an impressive list of hot contemporary artists who’ve taught for us over the years, and we have earned a reputation as a highly regarded boutique art college in Melbourne. In 2015 the college moved to its current premises, a fabulous industrial warehouse at 138 Cromwell St, Collingwood.
In 2025 we celebrate 30 years of providing excellence in art and design education and producing great artists.
Fifteen members of our current staff who are practising artists and designers – including teachers, coordinators and past students – come together to share their work and celebrate the LCAD community.
