About the artists

LAWRENCE MAXWELL cut his teeth on beer caps, rough waters, and country music. His latest album, Ballad of Miles, was nominated for seven Music PEI Awards in 2023, and in 2024, he received the award for Music PEI’s  ‘Entertainer of the Year.’ His songs have received airplay on Sirius XM’s Top of the Country, Country Hits Radio UK and CBC's Q. With its neo-traditional production, and comparisons to both John Prine and Merle Haggard, Roots Music Canada has dubbed the Ballad of Miles “the first great Canadian alt-country album of 2022.” His music video for "Back to Cape Breton" was a finalist in the Canadian Independent Music Video Awards  and his song "Better You" was selected in the Top 100 for CBC/Toyota  Searchlight in 2022. Having completed his first series of international performances in 2023 at Tønder Festival in Denmark and AmericanaFest UK in London, Maxwell is expanding his audience as he exports into new  markets. As an ECMA award nominee and three-time Music PEI award  winner, this Prince Edward Island singer-songwriter will tell it to you like  it’s folk, and sing it to you like it’s country.

IAN JAMES BAIN is country singer and songwriter based in Hamilton, ON. After writing songs and developing his craft in the West and on the road, he recorded his debut album with Jonas Bonetta at Port William Sound, finding a sound that draws from influence from all over while remaining firmly rooted in the country music tradition. Where I Wanna Be was released in October of 2022 and is filled with heartfelt songs about wandering, searching, love and hurt. Ian recently recorded a collection of songs with award-winning producer and pedal steeler Aaron Goldstein to be released in 2024.

You can find him somewhere down the road. (And also on Instagram.)
