Law Enforcement Training: Deflection 101
About this Event
Law Enforcement Deflection Training 101
Join us for an engaging and informative training designed to equip law enforcement professionals with the knowledge and tools needed to implement and support deflection strategies within their communities.
Deflection is an innovative community policing approach that helps connect individuals experiencing behavioral health and substance use challenges with appropriate services and support, rather than relying solely on traditional justice system responses. This training will explore how law enforcement agencies can collaborate with community partners to improve outcomes, strengthen public safety, and build healthier communities.
"Orange County has consistently invested in cutting-edge training, and the adoption of innovative best-practices so we can best care for the families, residents, and visitors we are privileged to serve. Many times, police officers and deputies are the first to arrive at complex scenes or sensitive situations. Deflection Training is a vital community policing tool - not only does it equip law enforcement with specific deflection skills, it has the potential to connect residents and families with vital community resources. I encourage LEOs to take advantage of the upcoming free Deflection Training Sessions. When we strengthen our capabilities and training, we help to build safer neighborhoods and stronger families.”
~ Director Danny Banks, Orange County Deputy County Administrator for Public Safety
