An orphan, Reynaldo, is rescued from the streets by Gilda, an alienated young woman. When she is murdered, the child is taken in by his brother Kadyo and the other members of the Gallardo family: a cantankerous grandmother, an uncle attracted to the armed struggle, and children forced to work.
