Made by Hand Workshop Series

The Made by Hand Workshop gives youth ages 9–18 the opportunity to learn practical, creative, and traditional skills through hands-on activities. Participants will explore four different areas and gain skills they can use at home and in everyday life.
Sewing
- Learn basic sewing tools and terminology
- Practice threading and using a sewing machine
- Learn basic stitches and sewing techniques
- Measure, cut, and work with fabric
- Complete a simple sewing project
January 6, 13, & 20; 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.
Quilting
- Learn basic quilting terms and techniques
- Explore fabric selection, patterns, and color combinations
- Practice measuring, cutting, and piecing fabric
- Learn about quilting tools and equipment
- Create a small quilted project while developing patience and attention to detail
February 9, 16, & 23; 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.
Canning
- Learn the basics of food preservation
- Practice safe food-handling and sanitation
- Learn about preparing jars, lids, and ingredients
- Understand the importance of following tested recipes and procedures
- Build confidence in preparing and preserving food
March 6, 2027; 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
Wreath Making
- Learn how to select materials and coordinate colors
- Explore design, balance, and creativity
- Practice cutting, arranging, and securing materials
- Learn techniques for creating an attractive finished product
- Create a wreath to take home or give as a gift
March 16 & 23; 5:30 - 7:00 p.m.
Through each activity, youth will build creativity, patience, problem-solving, attention to detail, confidence, and practical life skills while experiencing the satisfaction of making something with their own hands.
