Launch of George Floyd Race Matters Pledge

The George Floyd Race Matters Pledge is set out that we as a Council will make as an organisation to equalities. It is also the standard that we expect from Croydon businesses, community and voluntary organisations and suppliers.

The pledges were developed in collaboration with many community organisations including Croydon BME Forum, Legacy Youth Zone and the Whitgift School. As a community leader the Council will lead on the pledges, though their ownership lies within the Croydon community who will continue to support and adopt the pledges within their own organisations.

Our George Floyd Race Matters Pledge outlines the commitment that we made to the African, African Caribbean communities and others of similar heritage, following the brutal M**der of George Floyd in 2020. The pledge sits alongside our Equalities Pledge and aims to build inclusion and to educate people about the communities that we serve.

We are seeking the commitment of our Croydon community partners and businesses to both pledges, through the adoption within their own organisations.
