About this Event
Newly turned Mexican vampire, Maria, is not just out for blood, she wants answers.
From the twice Bram Stoker-nominated author of The Haunting of Alejandra and Immortal Pleasures, Maria the Wanted is a gripping tale of empowerment, desire and belonging, perfect for readers of A Dowry of Blood and Certain Dark Things.
We love this fierce and seductive horror thriller that pulses with rage, fear and desire as Maria realizes her power and uncovers the true history of vampires.
Joining V. Castro in conversation will be author Nat Cassidy (WHEN THE WOLF COMES HOME).
About MARIA THE WANTED:
Maria is a wanted woman. She’s wanted by an Aztec trafficker, a cartel boss, the people she fights for, and now the devil she can’t resist. A would-be immigrant turned vampire, Maria is forced to leave her home and family and embark on a journey across Mexico. She learns to fight, becoming an unlikely bad-ass enforcer of justice. Then an encounter with a violent, ruthless vampire boss leads her to find her creator. Drawn into a world of ancient vampires, deadly conspiracies and a dangerously seductive devil, Maria must find a way to fight for herself and all humankind.
About the Authors:
V. Castro is a two-time Bram Stoker Award–nominated Mexican American writer from San Antonio, Texas, now residing in the UK. As a full-time mother, she dedicates her time to her family and writing Latinx narratives in horror and science fiction. Her most recent releases include Alien: Vasquez from Titan Books, Mestiza Blood and The Queen of the Cicadas from Flame Tree Press, Goddess of Filth from Creature Publishing, and The Haunting of Alejandra from Del Rey Books.
Nat Cassidy writes horror for the page, stage, and screen. His acclaimed novels, including When the Wolf Comes Home (USA Today Bestseller; called "a classic" by Stephen King), Mary: An Awakening of Terror (one of Audible's "Top 100 Horror Novels of All Time"), Nestlings, and Rest Stop (Bram Stoker Award nominee), have been featured in best-of lists from Esquire, Harper's Bazaar, NPR, the Chicago Review of Books, the NY Public Library, Amazon, and more, and he was named one of the "writers shaping horror’s next golden age" by Esquire. His award-winning horror plays have been produced throughout New York City and across the United States. He won the NY Innovative Theatre Award for his one-man show about H. P. Lovecraft, another for his play about Caligula, and was commissioned by the Kennedy Center to write the libretto for a short opera (about the end of the world, of course).
