Laughs On Ashby: Monthly Comedy Showcase at Ashby Arts Space

This month we are doing things a bit differently. We have local comedians Joe Hill and Jamar Pitts putting their crew of performers together.

Veterans from the Oakland Comedy Festival and Sketchfest in San Francisco, these comics are going to help shoot our "by donation" beverages out of your noses.

Jamar Pitts - @poorhomiemar

Jamar Pitts is a San Francisco Bay Area comedian, winner of the Bay Area's Got Talent Comedy Competition at Tommy T's in Pleasanton. You can catch Jamar performing all over the bay area, Sacramento, and Napa. He also co-hosts the GrimeTime Mic at Tommy T's, and Comedy Night at Longboard Margarita Bar.

Joe Hill - @thisisjoehill

Bronx NY Native Joe Hill is a stand up comedian, writer and actor currently generating a buzz on the NATIONAL comedy scene. Joe has worked DL Hughley, MIKE EPPS, TONY ROBERTS, DC Young FLY, ALI SIDDIQ, BILL BURR, JJ WILLIAMSON, ALYCA COOPER, CRAIG ROBINSON, & Roy Wood Jr.

Joe’s comedic style is reminiscent of SinbaD and Bill Bellamy. His inspiration comes from Iconic legends like Red Foxx, Robert Townsend, and Martin Lawrence. He has been featured on networks COMEDY CENTRAL, FOX Netflix, CW11, and REVOLT TV.

Xander Beltran - @thisguyfunnyman

Originating from Southern California, Xander Beltran loves days at the beach, burritos, and great craft beer, but he can't afford any of them. Being half-White and half-Mexican (like Taco Bell) he offers a unique perspective on the world and an uncanny ability to get people to chill out and figure out a way to get along. Making friends wherever he goes, Xander spends time in all sorts of scenes and hangouts and is able to portray these worlds vividly through insightful storytelling and observational comedy. His laid-back delivery, character creation, impressions and animated act-outs make for incredible comedy.

He currently operates out of San Francisco and performs all over the West Coast. He's opened for Dean Delray, Erica Rhodes, Jeff Dye, Deon Cole, Jamie Kennedy, Erik Griffin and Kel Mitchell. He won the 2018 Cobb’s Comedy Competition, was a Finalist at the 2019 House of Comedy’s Funniest Person W/ A Day Job contest and he’s been a featured performer at Big Pine Comedy Festival, Savage Henry Festival and Oakland Comedy Festival.

Beverages by donation, hecklers will be dealt with mercilessly by the performers, but with tact and care by the venue staff.
