Latino Outdoors NYC | Community Gear Swap w/ Tri Persaud, Brown Girls Climb
About this Event
Inspired and co-hosted by community member Tri Persaud, join Latino Outdoors, Brown Girls Climb, and New York Restoration Project for a community-led outdoor gear swap & BBQ! Bring any new or lightly used outdoor gear, clothing, accessories to donate and you might just leave with a new treasure of your own!
We’ll enjoy some light picnic and BBQ bites over good music and convo highlighting the importance of keeping quality hiking, climbing, and outdoor apparel & accessories in use for longer and out of landfills.
This event is open to all ages and is FREE! Registration is required.

SCHEDULE
- 11-11:30AM - Community members arrive and set out their donations; BBQing open, and introductions
- 11:30AM - 1:30PM - Community members peruse and select gear
- 1:30PM - Announce last call and encourage final selections, complete final weigh-in and share preliminary impact (items diverted), pack remaining items for donation
- 2PM - Event ends
WHAT TO PACK
- Wear whatver clothing and footware you feel comfortable in! Cooper Street Garden is an outdoor garden so we do recommend sunglasses, hat, and sunblock.
- New or gently used donations--gear for all types of outdoors sports and recreation, outdoors clothing, footware, and accessories. (If you wouldn't wear it yourself because of it's condition, someone else wouldn't either. )
- Food, snacks, drinks for yourself (especially if you have allergies/dietary restrictions) and/or to share with other community members--we always welcome more snacks! (optional as we'll be providing veggie and meat hot dogs, veggie pasta salad, watermelon, chips, and water seltzers)
