In Latina Leadership Lessons: Fifty Latinas Speak, García gathers “Top Ten Leadership Lessons” from 50 high-achieving chingonas. Many of whom have become movers-and-shakers within high ranking government, corporate and non-profit roles. Written from each women’s point-of-view, the compilations uplift their unique experiences and heritage which are reflected in their advice. Throughout the book, there are several overlapping pieces of advice. Among them include: the importance of believing in oneself si se puede, the need to mentor and be mentored, remembering one’s roots, embracing change and self-care sana sana colita de rana.

About Delia Garcia

The Honorable Delia García exhibited her leadership skills at the age of 13, when she organized the first Youth American GI Forum Chapter in Wichita, Kansas, where she was born and raised. She went on to become the first Latina—and youngest woman—elected to the Kansas legislature in 2004 and the first Latina appointed Secretary of Labor in her home state. She has over 25 years of public service, including non-profit executive leadership.
