Latin Quarter 21st Anniversary Celebration with the groovy live Son al Son on Friday 14th June 2024 @ The Marryat Hall, Caird Hall Complex, City Square, Dundee DD1 3BG. 7.30pm till midnight. There will be a free beginners salsa class to get you started at 7.45pm. Son al Son band will play 2 sets, starting around 9pm. This is an exceptional latin music band and a rare opportunity to experience latin music in Dundee with a large fully sprung dance floor, decorated in Louis XV Style ! Please come and help fill it ! There will be a limit on numbers of around 220.

We also welcome for the first time, Soles del Peru, a Peruvian folklore dance group from Edinburgh who will be performing a dance from Cusco. Cusco is not far from the Azul Wasi home. The dance group’s objective” is to represent our beautiful country through the typical dances of the coastal mountains and jungle of Peru”.

In addition, Yamil Cuedo Ferrera, former Cuban dancer from Ballet Folklorico Cutumba dance company, Santiago de Cuba (now based in Edinburgh) will be spicing up the dance floor with his fun and energetic animations !!

Son al Son was formed in 2008, and is made up of musicians from Latin America, Spain, and Scotland. They play energetic son and salsa songs from the likes of Compay Segundo and the Buena Vista Social Club through to classic salsa dura. Fronted by well-known Venezuelan singer Lino Rocha and driven by seasoned salsa musicians, Son al Son is guaranteed to make you move. A Gozar! Enjoy!
Tickets are £15 in advance and £17 on the door ( if any left). Purchase in advance from the Deaf Hub in Dundee on Tuesday nights during LQ classes or Wednesday nights during Tania’s classes.
Also email [email protected] or contact Sarah Salsa on Facebook messenger chat for advance tickets. Group tables will be available to book for pre paid ticket holders. It's an 18 plus event, no children are allowed unfortunately.
All money raised is for the Azul Wasi project in Peru near Cusco, home for former street children.
NOTE: Tickets are NON refundable but transferable to another person.
If anyone knows a potential sponsor/ organisation who may like to donate some money towards the event in exchange for advertising, please get in touch asap.
There will be a raffle and bar on the night. Raffle prize donations would be greatly appreciated, will be advertising on the night & on facebook in advance for larger donations.
