You remember when music was something you carried with you.
Cassette tapes in the car. Songs recorded off the radio. The skating rink. House parties. Getting dressed for a night out. Club lights. First loves. Broken hearts. And dance floors where the opening notes of the right record could change the entire room.
For so many of us, Latin Freestyle was part of growing up.
Whether your memories were made in New York, Miami, Tampa Bay or somewhere in between, those songs became attached to people, places and moments we never forgot.
On Thursday, August 27, we put that music back where it belongs:

LATIN FREESTYLE comes to the Upper Deck at Centro Ybor with DJ Mike Sensation, bringing the music of an era that still means something to the people who lived it.
Jenny Marie starts the evening with Latin dance instruction before the music takes over at 8 PM.
This is about more than looking backward.
It is about keeping the music alive.
Keeping a real dance floor for it.
Keeping the community around it.
And creating new nights connected to the records that gave us so many memories in the first place.
