About this Event
VLACC is thrilled to launch Latin Expressions 2025 with a night that brings our community together to celebrate Latin American Heritage Month.
Join us for an evening that blends music, culture, and connection. Experience the vibrant sounds of the local band Mazacote, performing their signature live Latin rhythms, and let DJ Diana Mulata guide us across the diverse musical landscapes of Latin America. More than a groove night, this gathering invites everyone to share the joy of music, connect with the community, and immerse themselves in the traditions and stories behind these rhythms.
Our Latin-themed bar by Boteco Brasil will add to the festive atmosphere, and a very special dance moment led by Los ¡Aseres! awaits to make the night unforgettable.
Dress to impress in your elegant evening wear and be part of a celebration where culture and community meet on the dance floor.
Latin Expressions 2025 starts here. Come celebrate, connect, and create new memories with us!
About the Artists
MAZACOTE is an electrifying world/Latin band deeply rooted in the vibrant rhythms of Colombia, Mozambique, and Venezuela. Their music pulsates with energetic Latin dance beats, delivering a potent message that resonates with audiences. Infused with Afro-Caribbean percussion and tropical party vibes, their sound captivates listeners. Their recent Juno-nominated album, PATRIA, released on Justin Time Records, confronts pressing socio-political concerns, shedding light on the journeys of those escaping violence and corruption in Latin America and beyond. MAZACOTE has performed at Vancouver International Salsa Festival with salsa legend Jimmy Bosch, and played CBC Vancouver, the Harmony Arts Festival, Townsite Jazz Festival, Carnaval del Sol, the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Winnipeg Jazz Fest, the Winterruption Arts Festival, Edmonton Jazz Fest, Saskjazz, Calgary and Victoria Jazz Fest. With their mesmerizing performances and socially conscious music, MAZACOTE continues to make a resounding impact within the global music scene.
DIANA MULATA is a vinyl collector and selector from Cali, specializing in salsa, cumbia, and boogaloo. Her selections explore Afro-Caribbean heritage and Latin sounds across borders, creating dance floors that hold memory, joy, and resistance. Based in Canada, she brings the pulse of the South to every groove.
LOS ¡ASERES! is an inclusive and supportive group encouraging people to connect through dance. They are proudly supported by the Julio Montero Dance Umbrella and Elegancia Cubana, which are dedicated to promoting and preserving Cuban dance and music culture in the Coast Salish territories.
