About this Event
This 3rd and final class is 5 hours long you each will sand cast a trunnion prep it then machine it to fit your cannon, watching the others as they perfome the task then you take your turn. Advanges of observation and setups will make it a better learning experience.
- Prep the sand mold using a 3D printed pattern, a split box technique will be used also petrobond not sand is used, easier and less trouble wetting the sand. The trunion will be made using pewter.
- Safety gear is required but pewter has as lower heat requiement thus safer but stay safe.
- Each one will perfom the same molding and casting process to learn how the process works, a very useful skill.
- This is the 103 class, yep the last one. The trunnion will be machined on both ends then loaded into a fixture to bore it to fit your cannon. Good measurements matter here.
Class includes all materials, the petrobond, pewter and safety gear, safety glasses, tools and a good expereince to safely cast these trunnions and precision machine them to fit you cannon.
