Laternenumzug - Lantern Walk through Kelvingrove Park
About this Event
Starting from the Goethe-Institut Glasgow, we will stroll through Kelvingrove Park along buggy-friendly paths, celebrating the season with glowing lanterns and warm community spirit.
This event is inspired by St. Martin’s Day, a popular autumn tradition in Germany. Children celebrate with lantern processions and songs, as the festival recalls the legend of Martin of Tours, a Roman soldier remembered for sharing his cloak with a beggar.
After the walk, we will return to the Goethe-Institut for hot drinks and biscuits to warm up and chat.
Please bring your own lantern – or join our German Story Circle children’s group on 2 November to craft one in advance!
Everyone is welcome – we look forward to seeing you there!
