LATERNA Festival: Hidden Connections – Visible Ecologies

Schedule

Tue Jun 21 2022 at 06:00 pm to 10:00 pm

Location

Black Box teater | Oslo, OS

The festival Hidden Connections – Visible Ecologies is an attempt to create the festival that we ourselves would have loved to be part of. Created with care and listening, with space to think together, re-evaluate old truths, use our senses and share ideas about new ways of coexisting and understanding the world we are part of, as well as our own time – with all its challenges.
When beginning our journey with the CoSA-project in 2017 exploring genius loci - spirit of the place, was our point of departure. Visiting and creating performative responses in places as various as Hill of the Muses in Athens, at magnetic Monte Verità in Switzerland, the old Sami offering stone Áhkánjárstábba in Kvalsund, Steilneset Memorial and its surrounding landscape in Vardø, the Museum of the St.Petersburg Avantgarde in St. Petersburg and its surrounding garden, so many relations have emerged, so much has happened to our world, just over these past years. The festival is honoring and celebrating these relationships with fellow artists, scholars, landscape, beings of the more-than-human world that has grown through these years and which we invite to shape the festival with us.
As curators of this festival, we are inspired by both new and ancient understandings of life and matter and collective wisdom across species. As dance- and performance artists we are interested in bodies, relationships, and togetherness. With this as a backdrop, the festival becomes a place where we together can cultivate the collective, engage our senses and explore challenges and changes that our time is calling for.
We are inviting for five days with different topics under the same umbrella, with reflection, listening and wondering towards a new future, with workshops or Activation sessions, performances and conversations across different fields. The different days carry the headlines Conversation with Place, Conversation with Spirits, Conversation with Healing, Conversation with the more-than-human and at last – Conversation with the Universe!
On the last festival day, we will host legendary Anna Halprin´s collective ritual for peace, Planetary Dance, open to all, no matter background, age, and abilities, in close collaboration with Halprin´s apprentice through years; performance artist, shaman and percussionist Dohee Lee. Planetary Dance is big and has been shared in more than 52 countries worldwide and was also presented at the 2017 Venice Biennale. This is a collective experience that empowers, gives hope, and creates community. As Anna Halprin said it herself; “Every step becomes a call for peace. When enough people move together in a common pulse with a common purpose, an amazing force takes over – a power that can renew, inspire, and heal.” The day will end with Lilach Livnes Spirit Club – leading into a party and we hereby invite you to take part – in all of it!
Warmly Welcome!
