Join us for this special evening event as Kelham Island Museum hosts the film premiere of Cradle of Fire, a unique multi-media re-imagining the story of Roman god Vulcan.
Cradle of Fire explores the mythology of the god of fire, forges and volcanoes – a symbol of Sheffield for more than 100 years. The score features poetry, rap and song, blended with recordings of Sheffield’s industrial tools and machines by musicologist and composer Kim Cunio.
The evening also includes a live performance from the extraordinary Grenoside sword dancers, a pay bar and food, as well as the opportunity to visit the museum after hours.
Doors open at 6pm. The film will be screened twice during the evening, at 6.30pm and 8.15pm.
Cradle of Fire is a new collaboration from artist and engineer Diana Scarborough and writer Carolyn Waudby. Running time of the film is approximately 20 minutes. This non-profitmaking event has been made possible thanks to Arts Council England.
