MORE ABOUT THE ARTISTS:
+ Born and raised in the Florida panhandle, Johnie Palmer has been playing and writing music since the age of 5 and has been a whimsical outsider-insider of the local music scene since 2009. As a frontperson, Johnie has helmed the Americana band Pinchbottle, the psychedelic rock band Astral Lite, and currently creates experimental pop music under the name Orchid Electric. Johnie’s songwriting and lyricism is generally defined by existential dread, spiritual uncertainty, and the never-ending search for hope and validity.
+ Rockstar Girlfriend is a pop rock singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Pensacola, Florida. Inspired by artists like Alanis Morissette, Paramore, and Avril Lavigne, Rockstar Girlfriend makes music with a 90s/2000s-inspired feminine angst quality to it. Tounge-in-cheek lyricism, punchy power chords, belty vocals, and raw vulnerability characterize all that is Rockstar Girlfriend.

+ Sideswept Bangs is a Pensacola-based singer-songwriter playing acoustic, moody, folksy tunes. Born in Birmingham, AL, they first moved to Florida in 2019 and honed their songwriting skills as an undergraduate student at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL. A years-long stint in the throes of college radio turned their attention toward the bare-bones, lo-fi stylings of indie folk pioneers; songs by The Mountain Goats, Bonnie Prince Billy, Silver Jews, and Bill Callahan are embedded deep within Sideswept Bangs’ musical DNA. The 2021 debut full length album, Waterworks, sees Sideswept Bangs dissect scenes from their late high school and early college years with stark honesty and emotional vulnerability. Since moving to Pensacola, Sideswept Bangs has found a home within the city’s local folk punk and singer-songwriter circles; they have performed alongside fellow Pensacola musicians such as Steve Herwin and Stufy as well as independent songwriters across the southeast from Panama City, FL to Atlanta, GA. With a second full-length project definitively in the works, Sideswept Bangs intends to leave their mark on the musical history of the Florida panhandle, not through flashy promotion or stage gimmicks but with musical sincerity and candor.

+ Singer/songwriter Katie Dineen writes about the little moments of everyday life and infuses even the melancholic with resolute hope. Drawing influence from 1960’s folk and contemporary dream pop, Katie blends an earthy, indie sound with uniquely nostalgic lyricism. Accompanying herself on guitar and occasionally keys, Katie performs both solo and with her band.
Music has always been an integral part of her life, but post pandemic, Katie began hosting a weekly open mic, which was her catalyst to start songwriting. As her songwriting deepened, her desire to cultivate a commmunity around it took form in the Pensacola Songwriter Rounds, a monthly show series intended to grow and support the Pensacola music scene.
