About this Event
This class is for folks new to using a laser cutter. Members who successfully complete this class will be certified to use the laser at the space on their own. Non-members need to join for access to this and many other tools at the makerspace.
This Intro class will cover:
- laser safety
- how a CO2 laser works
- what can and can't be cut
- how to import a file containing both raster and vector information into the laser software
- how to determine cut and engrave settings
- basics of Retina Engrave 3.0 software
- Start up and shut down procedures
For your personal safety, please wear closed-toe shoes, tie long hair back, and avoid any dangling jewelry or baggy clothing.

How to find us: We are in the 1st floor of the apartment building. Enter the main door and proceed past the elevators. Take the first hallway to the right. Exterior doors lock at 8:30pm. If you are not a member with a door code, please plan to arrive before then. Parking is street parking and plentiful in the area.
