WHAT IS BLACK MATERNAL MENTAL HEALTH WEEK?

Black Maternal Mental Health Week is a week-long campaign founded by Shades of Blue Project, held July 19-25th, annually.

This week combats stigma, addresses systemic inequalities in care, & connects families with resources to combat high maternal mortality rates.

A maternal health community engagement event being held in Las Vegas, NV, on Sunday, July 19, 2026, kicking off Black Maternal Mental Health Week 2026.

This event is a replica of the 4Kira4Moms Black Maternal Health Week Block Party, which successfully celebrated its 4th annual event on Saturday, April 11, 2026, in Atlanta, GA, during Black Maternal Health Week 2026 (April 11–17). The annual 4Kira4Moms Block Party celebrates birthing joy by hosting the nation’s premier infotainment event, inclusive of 60 community-based organizations and partners.

Nevada continues to face significant maternal mental health challenges, with Black mothers disproportionately impacted by pregnancy-related complications and barriers to equitable care. Across Las Vegas and surrounding communities, many Black families are navigating fear, stress, and uncertainty during what should be one of life’s most joyful experiences.
