Las Hustlerboy by REYER

Celebrating Pride Amsterdam 2026, REYER opens our second semester COKO happenings program Dissident Bodies with Las Hustlerboy.

Las Hustlerboy explores themes of power, intimacy, transactionality, and sexuality, beginning from a concrete premise: REYER entered into a collaboration with a sex worker, reversing their usual roles. From this inversion emerges an unstable choreography in which positions continuously circulate. The client becomes sex worker, the sex worker becomes director, the performer becomes object, and the audience shifts from witness to co-player.

Within this work, money operates not merely as a means of payment but as a performative instrument, activating relationships and sharpening the boundaries between labor, desire, autonomy, and surrender.

Rather than presenting sex work as spectacle, Las Hustlerboy approaches it as methodology, a way of rethinking authorship and consent through the circulation of control, desire, and vulnerability. What remains deliberately unresolved is the central tension the work sustains: who, in the end, is performing whom?

SHORT BIO

Dancer and choreographer, BA SNDO, Academy of Theatre and Dance Amsterdam, 2026.

Reyer van Barneveld is a dance artist and QTBIPOC nightlife organizer and facilitator, working at the intersection of performance, nightlife events, and lived experience. His practice is supported by themes of “whoreographies,” the somatics of substance use, and community care.

By employing experimental forms of multimedia content and developing digital objects connected to bodily organs, he creates poetic landscapes of psychogeographic body synthesizers and sober, hallucinatory forms of cartography. In this way, he renders visible what it means to live as a vulnerable, intensely feeling person in an overstimulating world.

He prefers not to measure his development through institutions or diplomas, but through his capacity to remain open and attentive in encounter with an audience.
