Written by San Antonio playwright, poet, and actor Irene Chavez, “Las Comadres de Morales St.” returns after a hugely successful premiere that moved and energized local audiences. Set in San Antonio’s Westside, the play follows a tight-knit group of neighbors whose lives are intertwined by friendship, family, and the everyday fight to hold on to their community. With humor, heart, and honesty, the story tackles Covid, gentrification, and years of disinvestment, while centering on the strength of elders, comadres, and familia.
A reception honoring the playwright, director, and cast members will follow the opening performance.
This production of Las Comadres de Morales St. is made possible in part through the generous support of the City of San Antonio Department of Arts and Culture, San Antonio Area Foundation and Texas Commission on the Arts.
