Larry Bellorín, from Monagas, Venezuela, is a master of música llanera.
Joe Troop, from North Carolina, is a GRAMMY-nominated bluegrass and old-time musician.
Their paths converged in North Carolina—Larry as an asylum seeker working construction to support his family, and Joe returning from years in South America after the pandemic shifted the course of his career. What started as a chance meeting has become a powerful musical partnership.
Together, Larry & Joe create a fusion of Venezuelan and Appalachian folk traditions, performed on harp, banjo, cuatro, fiddle, maracas, guitar, upright bass, and whatever else fits in the van. Their concerts highlight not only their musical lineages, but also the stories of migration, resilience, and the belief that music has no borders.
