Program Description: In this program Mr. Hess will talk about large format cameras and how they differ from film or digital cameras. This includes a demonstrations with camera equipment.Subjects to overview include:
· Pre-visualization vs. post-visualization
· Image quality, sharpness & grayscale
· Flexibility in controlling the plane of critical focus
· Achieving perspective alterations in-camera
· Depth of field & depth of focus
· Control of composition & perspective
· The focusing and exposure process
· Size, weight & mobility
· Cost of equipment & supplies
Mr. Hess has a Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA) from Ohio University with a concentration in Photography, and an MBA. He has worked in photography for 40 years. As an industrial photographer, he engaged in catalog, marketing literature, scientific, legal, annual
report, training, and public relations photography. He has conducted large format camera workshops at The Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Studio School, college, and other fine arts organizations. Since moving to Dallas, he has become active in the photographic community, leading one-on-one workshops on black & white and color darkroom processes and organizing
monthly camera & coffee meetups in North Dallas.
He and his wife Mariana recently moved from Richmond, Virginia and reside in North Dallas.
