Join Paan for an authentic hands-on cooking experience where the heart of Thai home cooking meets the simple happiness of Thai street food — a delicious journey through memory, culture, and tradition. Larb Moo is one of Thailand’s most beloved traditional dishes, originating from the northeastern region of Thailand and Laos. The word “Larb” means good fortune or prosperity, which is why this dish has long been served during celebrations, family gatherings, and special occasions. This vibrant salad is made with finely minced pork cooked and tossed with fresh lime juice, fish sauce, roasted chili flakes, and toasted rice powder. The roasted rice gives the dish its signature nutty aroma and slightly crunchy texture. Fresh herbs such as mint leaves, green onions, cilantro, and shallots add brightness and fragrance, creating a perfect balance of spicy, sour, savory, and herbal flavors. Traditionally, Larb Moo is enjoyed with sticky rice and a variety of fresh vegetables such as cabbage, cucumber, and long beans. Each bite reflects the essence of Thai cuisine—fresh ingredients, bold flavors, and a harmonious balance of taste and texture. Today, Larb Moo is widely loved not only in Thailand but also in Thai restaurants around the world, representing the lively and authentic flavors of Thai street food and home cooking. In this class, you will learn how to prepare this iconic dish using traditional techniques while understanding the cultural story behind it.
After preparing the bold and vibrant flavors of Larb Moo, we will finish the class with a comforting traditional Thai dessert: Sago with Corn in Coconut Milk. This warm dessert features soft tapioca pearls gently cooked until translucent, combined with sweet corn kernels and served in fragrant coconut milk lightly seasoned with sugar and a touch of salt. The dish perfectly represents the balance that defines Thai cuisine—rich coconut creaminess paired with natural sweetness and a subtle hint of salt. Simple, comforting, and beautifully fragrant, this dessert provides a perfect ending to the meal and introduces students to the delicate world of Thai traditional sweets.
