Med rødder i klassisk musik og en kærlighed til Middelhavets levende folkemusik har Anna Sala og Lara Magrinyà skabt duoen L’arannà – et mystisk og gåsehudsfremkaldende møde mellem ældgamle traditioner og moderne elektronik. L’arannà er et af de mest spændende nye navne på den catalanske scene og har bl.a. medvirket på soundtracket til Los Javis’ populære dramaserie “La Mesías”. Vi er glade for at kunne præsentere L’arannà, når de indtager ALICE til maj med deres anmelderroste koncertperformance “Turmarí”.

L’arannà har hurtigt markeret sig med en kompromisløs tilgang til tradition og fornyelse. Den Ibiza-catalanske duo udgøres af Anna Sala (Sant Feliu de Guíxols) og Lara Magrinyà (Eivissa), som har rødder i klassisk musik og en fælles fascination af ældgamle folkemusiktraditioner. Trods duoens korte levetid har de med deres musikalske modenhed og nyskabelse gjort sig bemærket som et af de mest interessante navne på den catalanske scene. Deres debutalbum “La salamandra” (2024) førte dem vidt omkring på scener i Catalonien og på De Baleariske Øer, og duoen har spillet på toneangivende festivaler og litterære begivenheder og optrådt på internationale showcase-festivaler som Waves Vienna og Music Week Poland. L’arannà har i øvrigt samarbejdet med ALICE-aktuelle Maria Arnal.
Når L’arannà gæster ALICE er det med deres anmelderroste koncertperformance “Turmarí”, som dykker ned i folkemusiktraditioner fra Ibiza og Formentera – særligt den karakteristiske sangform ‘cant redoblat’, som er kendt for sit kraftige vibrato og sin ornamenterede, enstemmige sang. Her mødes gamle melodier og arkivfund med nyskrevne kompositioner i et lydunivers, hvor synthesizere og keyboards forenes med kastagnetter, trommer, fløjte og æstetikker inspireret af den traditionelle folkedans ball pagès. Resultatet er en mystisk, elegant, sanselig og undersøgende koncertoplevelse, der tegner et nuanceret portræt af to øer, som rummer langt mere end myten om paradis og natteliv. With roots in classical music and a love for the living folk traditions of the Mediterranean, Anna Sala and Lara Magrinyà have formed the duo L’arannà – a mysterious and goosebump-inducing encounter between ancient traditions and modern electronics. L’arannà are among the most exciting new names on the Catalan scene and have, among other things, contributed to the soundtrack of Los Javis’ popular drama series La Mesías. We are delighted to present L’arannà as they take over ALICE in May with their critically acclaimed concert performance Turmarí.
L’arannà have quickly made their mark with an uncompromising approach to tradition and renewal. The Ibiza–Catalan duo consists of Anna Sala (Sant Feliu de Guíxols) and Lara Magrinyà (Eivissa), both rooted in classical music and united by a shared fascination with ancient folk music traditions. Despite the duo’s short lifespan, their musical maturity and innovative spirit have established them as one of the most interesting acts on the Catalan scene. Their debut album La salamandra (2024) took them to stages across Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, and they have performed at leading festivals and literary events as well as international showcase festivals such as Waves Vienna and Music Week Poland. L’arannà have also collaborated with ALICE-current artist Maria Arnal.
When L’arannà visit ALICE, it is with their critically acclaimed concert performance Turmarí, which delves into folk music traditions from Ibiza and Formentera – especially the distinctive vocal style cant redoblat, known for its powerful vibrato and ornamented, monophonic singing. Here, old melodies and archival material meet newly composed works in a sound world where synthesizers and keyboards merge with castanets, drums, flute, and aesthetics inspired by the traditional folk dance ball pagès. The result is a mysterious, elegant, sensuous, and exploratory concert experience that paints a nuanced portrait of two islands that hold far more than the myth of paradise and nightlife.
