Use your creative flair — on your own, with your family, or as part of a group — to make a stunning lantern from tissue paper and willow. At our lantern-making workshops, we’ll provide basic instruction and all the materials you need to create your own unique design.
The theme for 2026 is “It Came From Outer Space,” so feel free to sketch out your idea beforehand and bring it along.
For each booking we ask for a £5 donation, which covers one lantern kit. Please book a ticket for every person who needs a kit. Each kit includes the essentials for a basic lantern, but you may wish to purchase extra willow or poles if you plan to build something larger or more intricate.
Please bring — or be prepared to buy — battery-operated lights to illuminate your lantern. We sell strings of lights for £2 each. Extra kits and lights will be available at the venue. Cash only, please.
If you have secateurs, bringing them along will be helpful.
These workshops are suitable for all.
Children under 8 must have one dedicated adult per child, and children must be supervised at all times. Please take care when using secateurs and willow. Families who are unable to follow basic safety instructions may be asked to complete their lanterns at home.
