In this unique and fun professional development workshop, teachers and teaching artists will learn three different lantern structures using sustainable materials with the intention of sharing the process with K-12 students and community members.
Participants will learn to make three different lantern styles, including a Vellum Tower, Bamboo Star, and Pyramid lantern.
Stay tuned for details on Elizabeth City’s first Lights of the Albemarle Lantern Parade, happening in partnership with Elizabeth City Downtown, Inc. on December 31st. Participants in these workshops will be invited to showcase their lanterns in the public parade.

Who: Art teachers and teaching artists. Public school teachers and Boys & Girls Club instructors are invited to participate for free. The cost is $15 for all other interested teaching artists.
