Consumers Energy has proposed a 15’ easement along the northern border of Fenner Nature Center and Evergreen Cemetery.
While they attempt to diminish the significance of the impact, they ACTUALLY are asking for the ability to do anything they want ON, OVER, and UNDER that 15’ into perpetuating. Many culturally significant trees exist within this 15’ strip.
That strip includes at least two WITNESS trees that are purportedly over 200 years old. There are at least 2 Osage trees. Are there trees planted by Mr Fenner himself?
PLEASE prepare and attend this next City Council Development and Planning meeting on WEDNESDAY, November 12 3:30 at city hall on the 10th floor.
There is public comment. Anyone can speak during public comment.
Ryan Kost, Council Member 1st Ward Jeremy Garza, Lansing City Council,
Adam Hussain, Lansing City Council have been diligent in listening to community members that have shown up and have been carefully evaluating the situation including walking the property where the easement is proposed AND asking the city attorney to draft a more limiting easement proposal.
Please attend the meeting Wednesday whether in person or virtually.
