One-Day Only Performance of "Anak ni Tapia: Leaving Mother" on March 29 at 3 PM
Chicago, IL - March 1, 2025 — The Rizal Center is excited to announce a special one-day performance by local artist and educator Lani T. Montreal, featuring her acclaimed solo production, "Anak ni Tapia: Leaving Mother." Join us on Saturday, March 29, 2025, at 3 PM for this poignant exploration of memory, identity, and reconciliation.
Lani T. Montreal's performance invites audiences on a deeply personal journey as she unpacks the complexities of living as a queer Filipina immigrant, navigating her identity in the shadow of a larger-than-life celebrity mother. This 80-minute show promises to
be both moving and thought-provoking.

"Her work not only highlights the rich tapestry of Filipino culture but also addresses universal themes of identity and belonging that resonate with many."

About Lani T. Montreal
Lani T. Montreal is a queer feminist Filipina writer, performer, and educator based in Chicago. Her works have been produced across North America and Asia, and she has received multiple accolades for her contributions to the arts. With an MFA in Creative
Writing from Roosevelt University, Lani has been teaching writing since 2009 at Malcolm X College. She is currently just three credits away from completing her second master's degree in Linguistics at Northeastern Illinois University.
