The intersection where Irish, Bluegrass, and Folk music meet and find expression best describes this versatile acoustic trio. The Langford Lads is a new endeavor of lifelong musicians so brings fresh excitement mixed with high-level musical expertise. The Langford Lads plays music that is a dynamic synergy of traditional Irish tunes with an American folk twist. Larry Halverson, Tim Staudacher, and Bob Phillips include guitars, tin whistles, flute mandolin, banjo, and vocals in a blend of instruments and voices to create an interesting and ever-changing show. Their years of directing and performing in student and professional ensembles result in this sonically stunning trio, where the intersection of Irish, Old-time, and Folk music meet.

Hailing from Roosevelt Park, Michigan, Larry Halverson started playing the saxophone and moved on to the Irish Tin Whistle and flute after attending a Kennedy’s Kitchen concert. Their performance ignited Larry’s soul to learn Irish whistle techniques while forming his own style. Larry studied with Ireland’s leading performers and instructors.

Tim Staudacher is a graduate of the Interlochen Arts Academy and the University of Michigan School of Music. He taught instrumental music and retired from the Mona Shores public schools. He has a deep interest in folk music and currently plays in groups that perform American and Irish music.

A graduate of the University of Michigan School of Music, Bob Phillips taught orchestra in Saline, MI, incorporating fiddling in his teaching. He created the Saline Fiddlers and has been called the “father of fiddling in the schools.” As a music teacher, author/composer he has received awards for excellence at the local, state, regional and national level. He has over 25 books series and 200 pieces of music published in the educational market.

Each ticket that is purchased is going towards funding events and scholarship opportunites here at MAFM! Donations can be taken at the door as well.
