Landscape Painting: The Urban Woodland

On the 3rd July 7-9pm I will be inviting you to come and have some fun painting the landscape and being expressive with colour. One of a number of examples I have to show you will be the amazing painter David Hockney. His simplified, colourful and energetic landscapes. Hockney uses digital images and assembles them together to make a more interesting, harmonious composition.
I am going to take a number of images of a local urban woodland that we can use in the studio to act as a template for our painting.
We are going to be working with oil paint and I will demonstrate how Hockney and other artists use gestural painting, design and pattern making to create fabulous works of art.
All materials are provided, so you don't need to go to the art shop and spend a fortune.

Tea, coffee, water, biscuits will be provided.

Richard Meaghan is a contemporary painter who has exhibited nationally and internationally. He has won prizes for his work and his paintings are in many public and private collections.

Richard is also classically trained in the techniques and processes of Old Master painters.
Richard runs S'cube Contemporary Art from his studio. This is a Thursday evening collective that do individual project based work, learn and exhibit together. We will be participating in Manchester Contemporary Art Fair 2024.
Richard runs workshops ranging from portrait/landscape sessions to mindfulness painting meditations as well as his monthy life class hub.
