About this Event
Over 3 days you will be taught the process of creating a finished landscape painting in both abstract and realistic styles. This comprehensive landscape painting course will walk you through the process of developing your own unique visual response to the landscape.
Suitable for complete beginners who are new to oil painting as well as those with more experience looking to develop their skills.

Programme:
The course will cover the process of observing the landscape, composing a picture out of this raw material and rendering it in paint. We will work with a combination of instructions, demonstration of techniques, exercises and personal tuition. Suitable for beginners and more experienced artists who wish to develop their skills.
We will cover topics such as:
- Composition
- Perspective
- Thumbnail sketches
- Understanding light and tone
- Colour theory
- The mechanics of painting
- Sketching in the landscape
- Arranging your palette
- Composition from sketch to final piece
Tutor: Kathy Dereli
Kath is a skilled local artist, formally trained in traditional techniques in painting, drawing and sculpture which she uses to create well-crafted artworks with a modern sensibility. She has led classes and demonstrations in both oil painting for several years.

Materials you will need to bring:
Pencils and paper for exercises
Oil paint paper (plus canvas or canvas boards), palette, brushes, paints, cleaning rags, turps
Oil paint(suggested range in order of importance: titanium white, ivory black, burnt umber, ultramarine, yellow ochre, cerulean, cadmium yellow, alizarin crimson, cadmium red).
Dilutant/medium I.e. turpentine/sansodor low odour solvent/liquin(for oils)
Palette I.e. wooden/Perspex or disposable tear off

Cancellations / Refunds:
Once you have made your course booking you are committed to it. This is because our courses have very small student numbers, and often sell-out and are unavailable to others. Therefore any cancellations may result in a place not being filled, or a course not being able to run.
Cancellations are permitted up to 30 days before the start of a course, and a full refund will be issued. Refunds will not be made for cancellations less than 30 days before the start of a course. If you are unable to attend due to illness, personal or professional commitments you do not have the right to a refund.
If you wish to cancel your place on a course that has not yet started and you have a friend or colleague who can take your place we can accommodate this substitution.
