About the event
Experienced gardeners who are ready to build on existing horticultural knowledge are invited to join this Extension-led workshop. Participants will develop the skills to confidently design and execute a carefully crafted landscape plan that incorporates native and edible plants into their home garden, making it both visually appealing and environmentally responsible.
Agenda
The workshop begins with an introduction to the fundamentals of landscape design and guidance on bringing your vision to life. From paper to planting, you will learn the design process and how to select, arrange, and position plants according to a strategically planned design.
Next, we will focus on incorporating food-producing plants (edibles) and native plants into ornamental garden spaces, following basic landscape design principles. In addition, learn how adding native plants can support our local wildlife community and reduce the toil and expense of a high-maintenance landscape.
A boxed lunch is included in the registration.
The afternoon portion of the class will consist of a hands-on planting demonstration in which the class will assist in installing a new landscape at the Sandhill REC main office.
𧀠Please dress accordingly for the outdoor landscape installation portion of the workshop. Note: Gloves will not be provided.
