Den irske kvartet Landless består af Lily Power, Méabh Meir, Ruth Clinton og Sinéad Lynch. De fandt hinanden på Dublins traditionelle vokalscene og har siden 2013 skabt udsøgte harmonier sammen, når de har fortolket gamle irske ballader såvel som nyere folkesange fra forskellige kilder. Kvartettens lyd er på én gang tryllebindende, mørk og storladen.
I 2018 udgav Landless det kritikerroste debutalbum “Bleaching Bones” og i 2024 udkom opfølgeren “Lúireach”, der ligeledes er blevet modtaget med stor begejstring. Det er et album fyldt med stille kraftfuldhed, hvor traditionsrige sange om melankoli, kærlighed, død og mystik bliver sunget på nye og overraskende måder og indimellem med instrumentalt akkompagnement. Mange af sangene på albummet handler om dristige kvinder, som bryder med den passive, kvindelige arketype, man ellers finder i mange traditionelle sange. “It is refreshing to find songs that challenge this power dynamic, but we are not totally hard-line about it, and sing plenty of old-fashioned love songs”, udtaler Ruth Clinton fra kvartetten. The quartet Landless spellbinds audiences with shimmering vocal harmonies as they bring centuries-old Irish folk songs to life at ALICE. The concert is presented in collaboration with Final Descent.

The Irish quartet Landless consists of Lily Power, Méabh Meir, Ruth Clinton and Sinéad Lynch. They found each other on Dublin’s traditional singing scene and have been creating exquisite harmonies together since 2013, interpreting ancient Irish ballads as well as newer folk songs from a variety of sources. The quartet’s sound is at once spellbinding, dark and majestic. Expect a spine-tingling experience as the four singers fill the room with their powerful voices.
In 2018, Landless released their critically acclaimed debut album Bleaching Bones, followed in 2024 by Lúireach, which was met with equally enthusiastic reviews. The album is filled with quiet power, reimagining traditional songs about melancholy, love, death and mystery in new and surprising ways, at times accompanied by instruments. Many of the songs on the album tell of bold women who challenge the passive female archetype often found in traditional songs. “It is refreshing to find songs that challenge this power dynamic, but we are not totally hard-line about it, and sing plenty of old-fashioned love songs,” says Ruth Clinton of the quartet.
