L&R 2025 Speaker Series - "Sense and Sentimentality"

Please join us for the final event in our Spring 2025 Speaker Series - "Sense and Sentimentality" on Saturday, May 17 at 7:00pm (Pacific time). The talk will explore the topic around how men and women complement each other - as inspired by the teachings of St. John Paul II in Love and Responsibility.

The event will be held at Christ the King Roman Catholic Church (624 N Rossmore Avenue Los Angeles, CA 90004). Doors open at 6:15pm. The talk + Q&A will be followed by fellowship time in partnership with Lumen Christi (the Young Adult Ministry at Christ the King).

We are excited to have Fr. Matthew Wheeler (Administrator of Our Savior Parish & USC Caruso Catholic Center) back as our speaker at this event. He will be talking about how men and women compliment each other by looking through the lens of Pope St. John Paul II's book "Love and Responsonsibility", along with answering questions on how men and women can live out our lives by recognizing the inherent gifts we each bring to the world.

SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY

Originally from Minnetonka, Minnesota, Father Matt came to Los Angeles to attend the University of Southern California. He studied accounting and philosophy and through USC’s Campus Ministry met some wonderful people who helped him grow in his spiritual life and discern his vocation to the priesthood. Upon graduation in 2010 he entered St. John's Seminary in Camarillo, California, and was ordained in 2018 for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Fr. Matt served as the Parochial Vicar of St. Anthony’s Parish in San Gabriel for four years after which he served as the Administrator of Visitation Parish for two years. He is now the Administrator at Our Savior Parish and USC Caruso Catholic Center. Father Matt enjoys pepperoni pizza, soccer, guitar, and classic novels.
