Join us Sunday June 18th, 2023, from 10:30am to 6pm PT for the 2nd Annual Lancaster Juneteenth Celebration, a community family reunion. Featuring messages of hope from top Black talent, thought leaders, and change agents from around the community & across Southern California. All in Unity, pledging collective commitment to freedom, liberation, and joy.

Although President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation on January 1, 1863, many may not know that all “free” persons held as slaves,” were not informed to this historical order by the POTUS. It wasn’t until two and a half years later on June 19, 1865, when Federal troops marched into Galveston, Texas, that the enslaved peoples in the last Confederate state learned of their freedom. This milestone event, followed by the passage of the 13th Amendment, officially marked the end of chattel slavery in the United States and was just recently recognized as a federally protected holiday.

Join Lancaster's historic celebration while learning about “Juneteenth” as an American tradition for the entire community. In honor of the tremendous strides formerly enslaved peoples have made to persevere through the generational struggle to overcome trauma and systemic oppression. This year the celebration coincides with “Father’s Day” and in addition of celebrating Juneteenth, we will honor fathers in spirit of the tradition of the Black family reunion. Come out with your families, friends, and community to celebrate Emancipation Day and Fathers in unity!
