ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Romina Hidalgo is a professional dancer, a world renowned artist, teacher, choreographer, performer, and organizer. Romina was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She started dancing Lambada when she was 8 years old, with world famous teachers of Lambada Fabiola Prestes and Gilson Damasco. Her dancing developed thanks to the influence and teachings of dancers Braz dos Santos, Bebe, Josy Borges, Patricia Cruz and Didi dos Santos, among others. When Romina was 16, she began assisting in the teaching of Lambada, eventually becoming a teacher at the age of 18. In her early years of dancing, she worked with Gilson Damasco as his dance partner and then with Braz dos Santos until today. When Braz dos Santos came to Argentina, Romina went through a series of trainings with him and after a few months, Romina was chosen to conform a permanent dance couple with the world leader of Lambada. From 2006 onwards, they taught classes and workshops in different cities around the world and participated in countless Lambada festivals and congresses. They had a brilliant appearance in Suzanna Lubrano and Nelson Freitas’ concert, and also participated in the filming of a music video with the renowned singer Gil Semedo. In 2014 Romina participated in the show "Brazouka", in which she toured the world with Braz dos Santos, as his dance partner. Today they continue to work together, promoting the dance and training students. At the International Berg's Congress, Romina was awarded a special recognition after being selected as the "Best Teacher" (voted by the Congress' attendees) and the "Best Sales Promoter" (highest ticket sales). She was chosen Godmother of the "Abraçame" Dance School in Belo Horizonte, Brazil (2011) and the "Entre abraços" school in Fortaleza, Brazil (2015). She was also recognized for her career at the event "Zouk Paradise Florianopolis", organized by Mara Santos in Florianopolis, Brazil (2016) and received a very important and special mention as one of the "Rainhas de la Lambada" (Queens of Lambada) in 2020 at the "Brazouka Beach Festival". Romina organized the first Lambada Congress in Argentina: "Buenos Aires Zouk Congress". There were two editions under this name (2011 and 2012). As of 2013, the name changed to "BDC - Buenos Aires Dance Congress" (2013, 2015 and 2017). The congress was attended by hundreds of people from different countries, which gave it worldwide fame. As an internationally recognized icon, Romina has also taught workshops in congresses and other events in the USA including Washington DC, NYC, San Francisco, Sacramento, Miami, Fort Myers, Key West, Denver, San Diego, Portland, Atlanta, Los Angeles.
