LaLa Land Back Tour: Indigenous Variety Show

The LaLa Land Back: Indigenous Variety Show is a continually evolving product of collaborative drag performances between Lady Shug and Landa Lakes as they work and travel together nationwide. It has been performed in different iterations for over a year and under several different titles including IllumiNative’s Wagon Burners: All-Indigenous Drag Show (2022). LaLa Land Back amplifies diverse voices into a joyful and educational experience for the entire family, and integrates local artists into the show at every venue! LaLa Land Back centers Indigenous and queer voices uniquely, and does so with humor and compassion for those who are curious about but uninitiated on intersectional politics.

Featured on HBO’s “We’re Here”, Diné drag artist Lady Shug supports border towns and communities within and alongside their reservation through the #ShugChallenge mutual aid program. Landa Lakes is a Chickasaw writer, musician, activist and artist. Landa has founded several drag performance groups in San Francisco, including Brush Arbor Gurlz and House of Glitter.
